Arthur and his team have done a great job extending an existing automated gate, and renewing the mechanism. The old gates were temperamental and narrow, and many cars had scraped their paintwork over the years. The new gates are a real pleasure to use and open to give cars (and lorries even!) ample room. I just wanted to write a short note to thank you for the meticulous work you, Chris and Michael did on our front and side gates.
As you know, due to COVID, our building work took much longer than expected and you were flexible in working with the builders (and us) to design and build gates that we and my neighbours are very impressed with. They are easy to use and give us an additional sense of security with the extra traffic on our “private street”, especially at night.
Your attention to detail and advice to us has created a pair of very solid gates that don’t look too industrial, are easy to use and will be easy to maintain as we won’t need to paint the metalwork or the “woodwork”.

I was concerned about having this work done as there are so many cowboys offering electric gates and we always like to work from personal recommendation. Sadly we had none amongst our friends and family, but were very impressed by the glowing testimonials on your own site. Now the job is completed I'm very happy to say that our own experience of Arkwrought Iron Works has also been exceptional.
Right from the beginning, you were able to offer advice to us in terms of design, and the preparation of CAD drawings of our final gate design was invaluable for our planning application. This was necessary in our case as our driveway and entrance are crossed by a public footpath. Once the work started it was obvious you were well equipped with quality tools which matched the level of workmanship of the finished product. The groundwork was done very quickly, yet we still had access in and out of our property whilst the work was underway. If you remember, most of this work was done under a portable gazebo in torrential rain, which immediately filled the various trenches, highlighting the need for an additional soak away to prevent the motor boxes filling with water.
Nothing was too much trouble and Chris's work in fabricating the gates themselves was outstanding. Tommy's brickwork was very neat and square in every direction, despite the pillars being 16' apart. Once the capping stones went on, we could see how the entrance would look. The final part was the installation of the gates themselves and I'm pleased to say, the quality of the powder coating was certainly on a par with the rest of the work.
I would have no hesitation in recommending you for any similar work. Your work was competitive and yet the quality was high and attention to detail outstanding.

I approached you to quote on a new gate installation in the New Year (2009), you were the first of four companies I spoke with over several months on the potential solutions I could install, you set the benchmark. You understood my access requirements, considering the proximity to the main road, access for my children returning from school, the need to manoeuvre the RIB trailer, the dog and security considerations.
Having conducted your site survey your proposed solution met my requirement. I am not the sort of person who would usually provide a testimonial but on this occasion I am happy to do so. Having seen the quality of work produced by Ark Wrought Ironwork for properties in our neighbourhood and hearing good things about them, we asked them to quote for railings to the front boundary and an automated gate system to the driveway. Arthur came to our house and listened to what we wanted, explaining how each part of the process would be carried out. He arranged to return two days later with the quotation. Arthur and Chris put in some security gates at my home. They asked me what I wanted and set to work measuring and designing. They produced a design which fulfilled all my requirements, gave me a price and then constructed an entrance which has made my family and I all feel much safer and are sleeping much better after we had intruders at 3 oclock in the mornining a few weeks earlier.They delivered on time, completed when they said they would. They delivered on time, completed when they said they would and, best of all, within budget. Everything was cleared up afterwards. There was a great deal of rotting tree trunks, overgrown bushes and the debris of builders from days gone by, but all disappeared and I was left with an entrance system with which I am delighted and which has not failed once. I cannot recommend them too highly: they are real craftsmen and extremely reliable and efficient.
